OS Racing Club

The Old Stoic Racing Club (OSRC) is now in its fifth season and we are delighted to continue to have horses in training with two Old Stoic trainers. Jonathan Portman (Chatham 83) is our flat trainer in Lambourn and whilst Alex Hales (Chandos 92) overseeing the jumps just on the outskirts of Banbury.

The Club has received wide support with past pupils (leaving years represented from 1954-2004), parents, their friends plus the occasional staff member of Stowe all involved.

Whilst both Racing Clubs are currently full, we are actively looking for past pupils and parents in particular to help us form new syndicates and further information will be revealed about these plans soon. Therefore if you have a connection to Stowe (past or present) and would like to be put on the mailing list then please contact the Old Stoic Office

A flavour of what owners can expect to receive:

  • Owners badges when your horse races
  • Box hospitality at certain meetings
  • Numerous visits to both trainer yards to watch the OS horses work on the gallops
  • Regular progress emails, photos and videos of your horses
  • Join a private OSRC Facebook page
  • An invitation for you and a guest to the annual end of season lunch back at Stowe
  • A percentage share in all prize money generated by both horses
  • Invitations to specially organised events including preview evenings and visits to Stud Farms

You can also keep in touch with our ongoing activities by joining our Old Stoic Racing Club Facebook page and follow our @StoweRacing twitter handle

We are also delighted to lend our support to the school’s CHANGE 100 programme to enable more children to benefit from a Stowe education. To date, through owner contributions and a percentage of prize money generated by our horses, we have donated £20,000 to the campaign.

Bourbon Beauty

This good-looking daughter of Great Pretender has been leased to the Racing Club. She has been the model of consistency and always runs her race.

During the 2020/21 season, she has won at Kelso and also gave the Racing Club one of it’s highlights by producing a dominant display to win the prestigious Grade 2 EBF Mares Hurdle Final at Newbury in March 2021 under Harry Bannister (Chatham 12). This victory brought about a unique connection with the horse being owned, bred and trained (Alex Hales Chandos 92) and ridden all by Old Stoics. This is something we are very proud about!

There is lots to be excited about with BOURBON BEAUTY!

Sweet Reward

This four-year-old has been leased to the flat arm of our Racing Club for the 2021 season. His preferred distance is 1m + and the hope is that he can give us outings to some of the better courses over the summer.

Tiddlywinx

This good-looking daughter of Fascinating Rock has also been leased to the Racing Club for the 2021 season. She is slowly nearing a debut in the first half of May 2021 and we hope she can be competitive over the summer as she has some exciting entries in top level races later on in the season. Her distance will most likely be six furlongs.
