Stowe 100 Racing Club

Welcome to the Stowe 100 Racing Club

Building on the success of our school Centenary racing syndicate, which launched in time for Stowe's big birthday in 2023, the Stowe 100 Club is open for the entire school community to join.

The Stowe 100 Club is the ideal way to dip your toe into racehorse ownership. An opportunity to become an owner in three racehorses all trained by Old Stoic trainers for just £995. As an owner you will experience watching your horse burn up the gallops on a frosty morning with guidance from your trainer and you could just be lucky enough (as 100 Club members were previously) to stand in the parade ring at courses such as Aintree, Ascot and Newmarket soaking up the pre-race buzz and talking to your jockey before heading off to the stands to cheer your boy home.

There has been lots of interest already and this dedicated webpage will serve as a platform to keep the Stowe community in touch with racing.

We hope to welcome you as a member of the Stowe 100 Racing Club!

What do I receive?

All members of our 100 Club will be entitled to the following:

  • Up to two owners' badges when your horses race.
  • Box hospitality at certain meetings
  • Visits to all three trainer yards to watch the 100 Club horses work on the gallops as well as a private tour from the trainer
  • Regular progress emails, photos and videos of your horses along with access to a private WhatsApp group.

TRM is the definitive online platform for managing and enjoying racehorse ownership, bringing all members of the racing community together. They streamline communication, administration, and regulation into one digital hub, bringing owners closer to the action than ever before.

Supporting Change 100

Our racing syndicate has donated to Change 100 since our inception. To date we have raised just over £20,000 to enable more children to experience a Stowe education.

The Stowe 100 Racing Club wants to continue in this vein and will include a £50 donation from each share sold to this campaign along with 5% of prize money earned by the horses.

Members will also have the opportunity to learn how their donations have positively impacted the pupils with progress reports and speeches at some of our off-course events.

FAQs

How much is each share?

Each share is £995, which is for all three horses up until 31st October 2024. You are welcome to buy more than one share if you wish.

What will my returns be?

The best way to look at the return on your outlay is what enjoyment, new experiences and friendships you develop. Seeing your horse canter past you on a crisp winter’s morning can be worth far more than worrying about how much prize money you may or may not win.

With so many members, your pro-rata return of prize money will not pay for your next holiday however, if you can recoup over 10% of your outlay then we will all have done well. Your horses will have a programme designed across the season where they have the best chance of performing to their maximum ability.

Who can join the Stowe 100 Racing Club?

Anyone connected to the school - so current and former pupils, parents and staff are all welcome.

We are encouraging as many under 50s to take part as they aren’t currently that represented across racehorse ownership however all ages will be warmly welcomed.

The 100 Club has a busy calendar of events lined up with lots of entertainment promised on and off the course thanks to some of the many Stowe connections in the hospitality industry.

Will the horses be insured?

In short no, owing to the prohibitive cost of insurance. By leasing horses, the Club does have the flexibility to draft in a replacement should such a situation arise from injury.

Who is running the Stowe 100 Racing Club?

The Club is spearheaded by Henry Kimbell (Chandos 04) who has been running our other Old Stoic Racing Clubs since their inception.

Henry and the three trainers will be the principal decision makers around  the horses and their running plans.

What happens if the Club doesn't fill 100 shares?

The Club Managers will do their utmost to ensure this Racing Club is filled however, should such a situation arise then we would simply only lease one flat horse for 2023, giving members an interest in two horses.

The revised number of shareholders would continue to receive all of the promoted benefits however some funds may have to be diverted from prize money to cover the financial shortfall.

Our continued thanks to:

Milo Corbett (Chatham 94)
Hannah Durden (Nugent 01)
Henry Macpherson (Cobham 13)
Thomasina Sandys (née Boddy, Nugent 89)
Anna Semler (Nugent 05)
