Mr Michael Inge-Innes-Lillingston (Chatham 77)

Michael, aged 62, passed away peacefully on 24 December 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He leaves a huge hole in the heart of all those who loved and knew him. 

Mr Thomas Tremlett (Chatham 65)

Tom died peacefully on 19th December 2021, aged 75, in Gloucestershire. Much loved, he will be greatly missed by his family, his dog Frida, and his many friends from the country, the City and beyond. A Small family funeral, followed by a memorial service to be held at Malmesbury Abbey, Malmesbury, Wiltshire on Thursday 28th April -11am.

Dr Peter Rossdale OBE (Temple 46) 

Peter, aged 94 died on 26 November 2021, following a short illness.

Loving husband of Mary and founder of the Newmarket Equine Veterinary Practice, Peter will be fondly remembered for his myriad contributions to the world of veterinary science, his brilliant mind and mentorship to many.

Brother to Dr Richard Rossdale (Temple 41) and Dr Douglas Rossdale (Temple 43), Father of Anthony Rossdale (Lyttelton 77), Uncle to Michael Rossdale (Lyttelton 73) and Andrew Rossdale (Lyttelton 79).

Guy died peacefully on 22nd November 2021 aged 71. Beloved husband of the late Henrietta. Father of Celia and George and grandfather of Mungo. Brother of Neil Harvey (Grenville 70). Mr David Pepper (Bruce 56)

David died peacefully on 20th November 2021, aged 83. Dearly loved husband of Alison and proud father of Michael, Andrew and Lucy and grandpa to Tom, Charlie, Jake, Adam, Sadie and Marcus. Private family burial. A service of thanksgiving for David's life will be held, in hopefully more Covid-free times, on Saturday, 9th April 2022 at noon at St Mary's Church, Redbourn. All welcome. Mr John Bartlett CBE (Temple 45)

John died peacefully on 17th November 2021, aged 94, at home. Johnny was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed. Funeral private. Hugh sadly passed away on 16th November 2021, aged 91. Much-missed by wife Jennifer, daughter Fiona, family and friends.

Richard, aged 86, passed away on Monday 1 November 2021, at home with his family. Dearly loved husband, father and grandfather.

Mr Rodney Marcus (Cobham 66)

Old Stoic, Royal Hussars, passed away on Sunday 31 October 2021, with his devoted wife, Carla by his side. A valiant fight bravely born.

Funeral at Guilford Crematorium took place on 22 November. Donating to IFAW Wildlife Charity. Family flowers only.

Giles, Aged 68, sadly passed away on Tuesday 26 October 2021, having battled brain cancer for the last year. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, brothers, Nicholas Henry (Chatham 69) and Angus Henry (Chatham 75)  .

David, aged 91, passed away suddenly at home on Monday 18 October 2021. Adored husband of Shirley. Loving father of Andrew, Claire and late son Ross.

A service of celebration of David's life took place on Friday 29 October at James Brown & Son's Funeral Directors in Belfast.

Bill sadly passed away on 13 October 2021, aged 74. He is survived by his wife, Susie, and his children, Katharine, Charlotte and Thomas.

Mr Roger Rawcliffe (Former staff,1960-1980)

Roger sadly passed away in hospital from a blood complication, aged 87, on 7 October 2021. He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth and son James, daughter in law Gretel and grandsons, Matthew and David.

After a long illness, Peter, aged 91, sadly passed away on 6 October 2021.

Mr Simon Gregory (Walpole 77)

Simon, aged 62, sadly passed away on Tuesday 5 October. Older brother of Mr Hugh Gregory (Walpole 80) and Mr Ben Gregory (Walpole 83).  He leaves behind his wife Angela.

Col Charles Taylor MC (Bruce 46)

Charles, aged 92, sadly passed away on 4 October 2021. Charles enjoyed getting reacquainted with Stowe School when his grandson Harry Weiss (Walpole 2018) joined.

He took a keen interest in the Stowe House Preservation Trust and the final major restoration projects but sadly died before he was able to see it completed.

Mr Ian Haynes (Chandos 54)

Ian, aged 86, sadly passed away in August after a long battle with prostate cancer and Parkinson's disease. 

Mr Alan Fyfe (Grafton 64)

Alan, aged 75, passed away peacefully on the 26 July 2021. Alan will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

Piers, aged 83, sadly passed away on 23 July 2021. 

The radio legend Piers Plowright, a “true man of Hampstead”, had an illustrious BBC career and is remembered fondly for his warmth, curiosity and knack for unearthing hidden stories.

Mr Mani Pesenti (Grenville 95)

Mani died suddenly in July 2021. The funeral took place on 28 July and many Old Stoics were in attendance.

 

Dr Colin Davies (Temple 51)

Colin, aged 88, sadly passed away on 15 July, having been taken in to hospital with double pneumonia. 

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mr Will Monk (Temple 92)

Will sadly passed away suddenly on 30 June 2021, aged 46.

 

The funeral will take place at St Luke and St Teresa’s Church, South Street, Wincanton, BA9 9DH, on Friday 23rd July at 12 noon (Midday), followed by a wake at The Montague Inn, Shepton Montague, Wincanton, BA9 8JW. Francis aged 81, died peacefully on 27 May 2021 surrounded by his family. Husband of Angela, Father of Louise, James and Sarah and Grandpa to his six Grandchildren.

Neil aged 83, passed away after a long illness on 8 May 2021, in Lima Peru. He will be sorely missed by his devoted wife Gaby, loving children Neil junior (Walpole 86), Marianne and Carol, and by his grandchildren, brother Andrew (Grafton 54), sister Susan and wider family.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Gambarini (Cobham 72). Joe died peacefully in the early hours of 6 April 2021.

An active OSS committee member from 2002 - 2009, Joe is survived by his wife Nicky, sons William (Cobham 98), Edward (Cobham 00) and Piers (Cobham 01) He will be missed.

Tim died peacefully at home on 13 January 2021. aged 93. Beloved husband to Wendy.

Mr David Rimmer (Chandos 59)

David passed away in March 2021 after being unwell for several years. He joined Old Chandosians for the 2017 annual get together at Queen's Temple. David was a keen sailor but recently his ill health had prevented his love of this sport. To compensate however, he acquired a lovely little yacht, which he moored on the lake in his garden so he could have a few drinks while afloat.

Mr Richard Gubbins (Temple 48)

Richard died at home at the grand old age of 91 on 25 November 2020. He had the pleasure of seeing his grandson, Jamie Gubbins (Grafton 07) follow in his footsteps at Stowe.

Tony sadly passed away on Tuesday 2 March 2021 at the age of 75. Our thoughts are with his family. 

Mr John Phillips (Cobham 39)

John, who celebrated his 100th birthday in September last year, has died. A keen cricketer, John is one of very few people in cricketing world to have watched English Test match victories over Australia at Lords in 1934 and 2009. Our thoughts are with John's familty at this time.
