Secrets of Stowe House Tour

Friday 23 July, 6:30pm

About the event

As part of Buckinghamshire Open Weekend, we are opening up some of our rooms that are not usually seen by our visitors.

On this tour you will explore the incredible Gothic Library designed by Sir John Soane, the beautiful Japan room and a take a sneak peak at some newly discovered 18th century wall paintings!

Join us to see a different side to Stowe House and discover more of Stowe's fascinating history.

Stowe House is an architectural masterpiece. Once the home of a wealthy and politically influential family, the house was built to reflect the families social and political ideals. These beliefs can still be viewed today through the architecture, interior decoration and art found within the house. The Stowe House Preservation Trust is continually working to restore, maintain and preserve this iconic site that has inspired artists, poets and creative thinkers for generations.

The public will be encouraged to create their own gilded flowers to take home, inspired by the restoration story of the house.
