Stoic Pianist Performs at the Royal Albert Hall

9 April 2018

On Thursday 5 April, David Choo (Lower Sixth, Chatham) gave a solo piano performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London. David performed a new work written by renowned composer Christopher Norton titled ‘A Darker Side of Blue’ which is part of a suite of pieces.
Celebrating contemporary music, the event was organised in association and partnership with EVC publishing, Alfred publishing and the British and International Federation of Music Festivals. Performing to a sell-out audience of over 150 leading educationalists, award-winning composers, and members of the public, David really captured the subtle nuances of the work - which is influenced by both jazz and classical styles. I was particularly impressed by the space he allowed during his performance, and the music breathed and projected. David was listening intently to his sound during the performance and it was clear from the outset that he was very much in tune with the acoustic in the beautiful Elgar room. This was a fantastic opportunity for David and one that he will always remember. I would like to thank Elena Cobb (EVC publishing) for organising this wonderful event, and Christopher Norton who nominated David to play his composition at the Royal Albert Hall.
