Sports Day

26 May 2025

This year’s Stowe Sports Day was a dazzling, high-octane celebration of athleticism, School spirit, and fierce competition. With vibrant House colours and a sea of cheering supporters lining the track, the entire School came together for a thrilling day of sport, unity, and unforgettable moments.

Athletes across all year groups raised the bar with six School records broken. Among the standout performances:

  • Mary Taylor (Fourth Form, Stanhope) stunned the crowd with a lightning-fast 38.97 in the 300m, smashing the School record and solidifying her position among the top 10 in the UK for her age group.

  • Ross Priestly (Fifth Form, Winton) was equally dominant, clocking 21.61 in the 200m to break another School record and also equal the current 100m record of 10.8s.

  • Will Connelly (Third Form, Chatham) blazed through his race to set a new boys’ 300m record of 38.68.

  • James Bristow (Upper Sixth, Grafton) launched the javelin 49.9m, setting a new benchmark for the Senior boys’.

  • The Winton Intermediate Boys’ Relay Team flew around the track to a stunning new record of 45.77 seconds.

The Open 100m - Stowe’s Fastest Crowned
A signature moment of the day came when the entire School gathered to witness the ultimate showdown, the Open 100m. With only the quickest Stoics qualifying to race, the atmosphere was electric. Ross Priestly and Mary Taylor were crowned the Fastest Boy and Girl in the School, cementing their status as Stowe sprinting royalty.

Not to be outdone, the Staff took to the track for their annual relays, combining youthful enthusiasm from our newer coaches with flashes of brilliance, and nostalgia, from seasoned Staff veterans.
