Running for Mind & Caudwell LymeCo Charity

10 March 2020

OS Millie Bromley-Davenport (Stanhope 16) will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Mind and Caudwell LymeCo charities.

Mille writes," Many run the marathon, few get it as a present for their birthday…

I know all too well the amount of people that run marathons and hassle people for sponsorships. So I would like to be clear with you all. On Sunday 3rd May I am running the Marathon. It is not that I am aiming for a specific time nor amount raised, but just that I wish to do a little good for two amazing charities. I honestly mean when I say even the smallest donation, will be appreciated so very much by me and your support means the world.

I have decided to run for two charities. Half of your kind donations will go to “Mind” - a pioneering organisation in empowering and supporting anyone experiencing mental health issues. A prominent issue that no doubt most people reading this now can relate to - having perhaps affected them personally or close friends and family. Something that is close to many of our hearts.

The other half will be going to the “Caudwell LymeCo Charity”. It seems but fate that the day before I run this marathon, I will be attending a memorial to celebrate the life of my Great Aunt - Mai Watts. Mai played a huge part in my life and upbringing. She sadly passed away recently having suffered from Lymes disease. This is an illness you are less likely to be familiar with unless it has affected you personally. It is increasing year on year particularly across the northern hemisphere and it is this charities mission to ensure every Lyme disease patient in the UK is treated and completely cured on the NHS.

It seems special to me that on the Saturday my family and I will be planting trees in honour of Mai, and the following day I will be running over 26 miles for her.

I have two months to fully prepare for this marathon and I would be lying if I did not say I am terrified.

I would like to thank you all in advance for even taking a moment to read this. Should you feel kind enough to donate to these causes, I cannot comprehend how much I will appreciate your support.
