OS Sports Day Cancelled

With great regret, we have taken the decision to CANCEL Old Stoic Sports Day, which was due to take place tomorrow.
The weather forecast is dismal, with snow predicted to cause large scale travel disruptions across the country. With so many Old Stoics planning to travel long distances to Stowe to take part in the matches, we feel it would be irresponsible to expect our guests to travel in the current weather conditions. We are expecting more snow overnight which will worsen the current conditions around the School. The sports pitches are currently not rendered playable and it looks unlikely that they will improve given the expected conditions. We have been receiving emails from Old Stoics all morning enquiring as to whether this event will go ahead, as conditions are worsening around the country, with travel conditions expected to worsen. So with huge regret, we feel the right thing to do it cancel our plans.
We hope to re-arrange the matches and will aim to hold some on Speech Day, Saturday 26 May 2018. We plan to re-arrange the Lacrosse Match to early September to form part of pre-season training.
I am so sorry for the disappointment this will cause and I hope you will understand our decision. It is such a shame not to be able to proceed but it seems hopeless to expect the matches to go ahead in these conditions.
