OS Artist Major Solo Exhibition

Old Stoic Artist, Hugh Beattie (Chandos 91) will be holding a major solo exhibition from 1 - 5 December 2015, titled 'London Ancient & Modern',  at 1 Royal Opera Arcade, Pall Mall, London SW1Y 4UY. The exhibition will feature  views of London never painted before.

The exhibition is a collection of thirty paintings that view London from entirely new angles. Close up and compositionally introspective, the works crystallise the vast gulf between the stone heritage of London and the new architecture of glass. Over seventy percent of the City of London’s buildings have been built since the Millennium.
 
In the City, the classical monoculture was destroyed in 1941. The beauty of contemporary London, illustrated by this collection, is in the jaw-dropping contrast of building design. The mission has been to find details of the urban environment to which we are so often oblivious. With dramatic historical and visual depth, novel composition, day or night, the works turn one off glimpsed views in to highly focused muses to the love of London, Ancient & Modern.
