News from OS Lottie Hopkinson-Woolley (Stanhope 18) - Seas the Day

26 April 2024

Seas The Day are an all-female team attempting to become the first crew to row 8,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean nonstop and unsupported.

Leaving from Peru, South America in April 2025, Lottie, Miriam and Jess will row west continually until they hit the coast of Australia.

Rowing up to 15 hours a day, the voyage will take up to six months and the women will break several world records in the process. When not rowing the team will be either sleeping or eating, requiring around 5,000 calories a day to fuel. To give context to this remarkably ambitious attempt, more people have walked in space than have rowed across the Pacific Ocean. Challenges will include coping with 30-foot plus waves, dealing with blisters and salt sores, and crossing shipping lanes. They expect to encounter dolphins, sharks, whales and other marine life.

In a series of firsts, the team will attempt to become...

• The youngest team to row the full Pacific Ocean

• The first trio to row the full Pacific Ocean
