Keyboard Showcase Concert

13 March 2024

During the evening of Wednesday 13 March, 52 Stoic pianists took part in a Keyboard Showcase concert.  Performing to a full house of parents, teachers and pupils, the Stoics gave some outstanding performances as soloists, piano duos and as part of a ten-piano ensemble, which featured three Stoics performing individual parts at each of the ten pianos.  The sound of ten pianos being played at the same time is a unique auditory experience to behold, and each of the Stoics involved rose to the challenge admirably.  From Jemima Pearson-Gee’s (Upper Sixth, Nugent) stunning performance of Eva Cassidy’s ‘I Wandered By A Brookside’, to Freddie Youngman Sullivan’s (Fourth Form, Grafton) rendition of Billy Strayhorn’s Take The A Train’, each of the pupils brought something really unique to the event and helped to make the evening a really special one.

A big thank you must go to the performers themselves, Stowe’s fantastic team of piano teachers, Kasper Calvert for his technical support with lighting, and finally to Jane Horwood (Music Administrator) and Thomas Hawkes (Chapel Organist) for their support of the event.
