Conservation Society Lower School Ball

16 January 2024

On Saturday 13 January the Conservation Society ran a charity ball for the Junior Stoics (Third, Fourth and Fifth Form). It had a fantastic turnout of 386 pupils in attendance.

The circus themed evening had a range of entertainment including a photo booth, professional magicians, fire breather and a glitter bar, which was run by Lower Sixth volunteers. Three pupils were DJs at the event - Edward Mercer (Lower Sixth, Grafton), Oscar Beumer (Fourth Form, Chatham) and Flora McDougall (Fourth Form, Nugent).

The event raised £6,300 to support the group's latest project, creating an interactive nature trail around Stowe. Working with the National Trust we will to create the trail which incorporates an App with augmented reality characters. On the trail, visitors will follow the story of different woodland animals who live around Stowe and learn more about them. Stoics are designing the route, the story, the characters, and with the support of a professional designer, the animated animals which will appear on the App. The pupils will also help design the outdoor signs and support the marketing and communications in the lead up to the launch of the trail in May 2024.
