Life before Stowe

After studying History and Law at university in Australia, I led the expansion of an education company to the UK. Around this time I became a Christian, but swore I would never be one of those ‘keen’ ones who go into full-time ministry! But it was through speaking in Chapels and at Christian meetings in schools (including Crossfire at Stowe!) that I realised I really wanted to do school chaplaincy.

What do you enjoy most about being the Chaplain?

I really love the variety of being the Chaplain. I get to mix time in the classroom (teaching History) with preparing chapel talks, coaching sport, answering big questions, and being a listening ear for Stoics and staff when needed. It’s a privilege to serve the Stowe community in this role.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

It is such a friendly place. Perhaps because of our isolation, Stowe has such a strong community feel to it.

What is your favourite Lesson?

Any and every lesson which involves dialogue. I most appreciated my teachers who listened to us as pupils, and I try and do the same in the classroom.

What do others say about you?

That I fit several Australian stereotypes. Except surfing. That I can’t do.

Other hats

As well as being Chaplain, I also teach History, coach Hockey and Cricket, and I’m a tutor in Grafton.

Passions

Jesus. Being a husband and father. Australia, sport, and the outdoors. All in that order.
