Life before Stowe

Born and bred in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and went to Pate's Grammar School until 2000. Whilst at school I was actively involved in all sports, playing Rugby, Hockey and Cricket for Gloucestershire and captaining the West of England Cricket side. I then studied Sport and Exercise Science at The University of Birmingham, gaining a BSc and 1st team appearances in both Hockey and Cricket.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

The application of Sports Science theory to contemporary and personal performance. Being able to work in both the classroom and outdoor environments on a day to day basis.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

The outstanding all-round facilities, set in such a stunning environment and the warmth and friendship of the Common Room.

What is your favourite Lesson?

Practical fitness testing and analysing the results in comparison to an elite performer.

What do others say about you?

A friendly, patient teacher, who does things with a smile on his face.

Other hats

I coach the performance teams in all major sports - Rugby, Hockey and Cricket. I also run the Stowe Occasionals Cricket team.

Passions

Playing as much Sport as I can fit in during my 'free time' - I still play cricket for Cheltenham Cricket Club and play competitive Hockey when time allows. Surfing, travelling around Britain, photography and I am probably most passionate during the Six Nations Rugby as I am an avid Wales fan. This alienates me slightly from the other members of the School, but I am used to it!
