Life before Stowe

After a career teaching in other schools and a Covid year pacing up and down a remote offshore island, I return to the classroom at Stowe.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I greatly value the way it enforces slow reading, especially in an age of skimming and scrolling through screens.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

Apart from its obvious painterly charms and the general benevolence of its pupils, Stowe offers a delightful and unusual set of activities: kennels and countryside have loomed large in my pleasure in the place.

What is your favourite Lesson?

Any lesson which productively and engagingly goes off topic—for a moment or two.

What do others say about you?

They sometimes are curious about my typewriter and magnetic reading glasses.

Passions

Nice food, company and pictures. Travel, especially in the Dar ul-Islam.
