Life before Stowe

I enjoyed five years at Exeter University, one of which was in Mazamet, France where I played First Class rugby and also played basketball for the town team. I captained the basketball team, played 1st XV rugby, 1st XI cricket, 2nd VI tennis, competed in the 400m hurdles for the university and was twice university decathlon champion. I spent 8 very enjoyable years at Winchester College. During this period I was player/coach to Winchester Men’s basketball club and had spells coaching Solent Suns Ladies National League, South West and England U15 school boys.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

Seeing the personal development of pupils of various abilities and somatotypes.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

The enthusiasum of the pupils.

What is your favourite Lesson?

Teaching badminton.

What do others say about you?

Firm but fair; relaxed; calm and competitive.

Other hats

I am secretary to the Physical Education Advisory Committee (PEAC). I coach and referee basketball and rugby and I coach and umpire cricket.

Passions

Playing a variety of sports and life-long Arsenal fan. I love spending time on my allotment.
