Life before Stowe
I attended Aylesbury Grammar School and the University of Northampton before becoming a Professional rugby player with Northampton Saints for 15 years. I retired in 2006 to work for 4 years as Academy Coach before moving to the education sector taking up the position of Head of Rugby at Magdalen College School Oxford where I have spent the last 8 years.
What do you enjoy most about your subject?
I am passionate about coaching rugby to players. I get a huge amount of satisfaction seeing pupils develop a sense of belonging with their team mates and developing as better people as well as better players.
What do you enjoy most about Stowe?
The contact time with the pupils is excellent and the freedom to add extra sessions into the programme with a supportive management system.
What is your favourite lesson? -
Wednesday 7am Gym session with 1st XV- there are some boys who clearly are not used to an early start!
What do others say about you?
Having only just started at Stowe I would hope nothing too negative! I am known for always looking for opportunities to have fun (at the expense of others) and keeping a clean and tidy working environment.
Other hats at Stowe
Temple 3rd form tutor, Practical PE. Wasps Academy head coach for Oxfordshire and RFU Citing Commissioner keep me busy.
Obviously rugby is my main passion having spent so many years playing or coaching professionally. I also enjoy golf, going out on my road bike and being with my wife and 3 children.
