Life before Stowe

I studied Theology at the University of Exeter before going into journalism and marketing. I enjoyed this time, but realised that teaching was my true calling and completed my PGCE at the University of Oxford. I then spent a year at Magdalen College School in Oxford before joining Stowe.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I love challenging pupils to reflect on and question different beliefs and ideas. Having knowledge and understanding of of religious and philosophical beliefs helps us to develop our intellects and morals, as well as providing us with an understanding of our social, political and cultural history. It's a fascinating and infinitely varied subject! 

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

I love the community spirit of Stowe, both among the staff and the pupils. The Stoics are fantastic; engaging, inquisitive and polite, they are a joy to teach. The stunning buildings and grounds also help provide a sense of enchantment. 

What is your favourite lesson?

I don't have a favourite lesson as such, but I love introducing pupils to philosophical and ethical ideas that encourage them to open their minds and question what they know. 

What do others say about you?

Hopefully, that I'm friendly and approachable and that I love my subject!

Passions

I read as much as I can (both fiction and non-fiction) and enjoy cooking, baking and yoga.
