Life before Stowe

I qualified as a Paediatric Nurse in 2000 and worked on a busy general children’s ward before moving into community focussed nursing, supporting Health Visitors and School Nurses.

In 2004 I completed further training and gained a 1st Class Hons degree in Public Health Nursing and went on to work as a Health Visitor. My working day covered a wide variety of issues including development checks, health promotion, child protection and family health clinics.

Over the last 10 years I have had several career breaks to be a full-time mum to my four young children who are now all at primary school in Buckingham.

Prior to joining Stowe I completed a Return to Practice course and worked with school nursing teams across Northamptonshire carrying out immunisations, child surveillance and EpiPen training.

What do you enjoy most about Nursing?

I have always wanted to be a Nurse and particularly enjoy the caring aspect of the role as well as the ability to combine my nursing knowledge with pastoral care; something that both community and school nursing enables.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

What is there not to like! I am privileged to work in one of the most beautiful settings in the country. I lived in the village adjoining Stowe for 30 years; I even got married at the School and have family who attended the School.

The working day is always so varied and I love working as part of a supportive team helping to care for some wonderful young individuals.

Passions

Family life keeps me fully occupied outside of work. I live with my husband, four children and dog called Rufus. We love family holidays and especially somewhere cold and snowy! We also enjoy family bike rides; all the better if there is an opportunity to stop off somewhere nice for a drink and bite to eat.
