Life before Stowe

Before joining Stowe, I taught at The Buckingham School for fourteen years. Before that, I worked in the Logistics industry as a Logistics analyst and then a Retail Merchandiser at George @ Asda. I attended Huddersfield University, gaining a higher diploma in Business Studies and a degree in Transport and Logistics, then attended UWE to gain a PGCE in Business.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I enjoy working in the Business Department, delivering both the A-level and Btec Curriculum. I also oversee and manage the BTEC qualifications. Business is so relatable to real life and to other subjects that pupils are engaged with. This is why I love it so much. Everything we teach can be put into real-life scenarios, and therefore we can really bring it to life in the lessons.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

Stowe is an amazing place to work. Firstly, we are extremely lucky with our surroundings, and the summer term at Stowe is simply the best. Watching Cricket in the sunshine on the south front is an absolute pleasure.  Secondly, the staff here are very supportive and friendly, and it makes for a great environment to be in.

What is your favourite Lesson?

My favourite area to teach is Marketing as this is where I can bring in lots of products to test (mainly chocolate!). The pupils analyse pricing strategies, promotion and packaging, branding and other areas of marketing. Who doesn't like a lesson where chocolate is consumed?

What do others say about you?

Other people would describe me as warm, friendly, supportive and generous. Pupils would describe me as kind-hearted, cheerful, caring and considerate, with a firm but fair approach to lessons.

Other hats

I am a Level 3 BTEC and A-level Business examiner for Pearson. This keeps me busy for the first part of the summer holidays. My main reasoning for doing this is to gain extensive knowledge of the marking expectations of the exam boards so I can pass this knowledge on to the pupils I teach. I am also a sixth-form tutor for Winton House.

Passions

My interests mainly consist of watching and supporting my children with the many sporting activities they are involved in.  As a family, we are actively involved with our local sports club, Towcestrians, playing a range of sports, including Rugby, Tennis, Hockey and Cricket. I also enjoy reading fictional crime and long wood walks with our dogs.
