Rebecca Brown read Politics and Philosophy at University before completing the Diploma in Law at The City University and then passing Bar finals.  Rebecca completed pupillage before becoming a tenant in Chambers practising as a common law barrister.  As her practise developed, she specialised in child protection law representing local authorities, parents and children in complex and serious child abuse cases.  Rebecca practised all over the south east of England for 23 years as barrister in London Chambers.  Rebecca took an appointment as a Recorder (part time Circuit Judge) in 2003 and took a full-time appointment as a Circuit Judge in 2012.  Rebecca has sat in both the Crown and County Courts, but in recent years has concentrated on family law work.  Rebecca was appointed to the Court of Protection in 2019 and now presides over cases of adults who need protection but lack litigation capacity.
