Senior ICT Technician

Contract type: Permanent

Hours of work: Full time 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £28,000 - £37,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Job Overview 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Stowe group within a dynamic IT team as a Senior ICT Technician based in Stowe school after the current post holder decided to retire. To lead your IT technician team, you must be enthusiastic about problem-solving, have a solid technical background, and have excellent customer support skills.  

You will be required to provide mainly 1st and 2nd line support, with occasional 3rd line support duties. Log and report all IT help desk enquiries on the ticket system. You will also deputise for the current IT manager and manage a team of IT technicians. You will need to be organised and ready to roll up your sleeves when required to support projects or day to day operations.

The ideal candidate will have technical experience and working knowledge of: 

  • Microsoft 365, including Teams, application use and deployment 

  • Intune and other MDM systems 

  • Active Directory (Azure AD) 

  • TCP/IP networking, especially Wireless AP setup and troubleshooting 

  • Firewall and Email security  

It is vital that the candidate has a good clear and polite manner, both in person and on the phone. A combination of flexibility and hard work with a sense of team is essential to be successful in this role.

  • Microsoft/IT Support qualifications (e.g. CompTIA A+/N+/ITIL/ CCNA) 
  • Microsoft Azure fundamentals

  • Providing support for PCs and all peripherals, including printers and A/V equipment 

  • Experience of working in an educational environment 

  • Coordinating and organising support requests 

  • A solid background in Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, and M365 applications. 

  • TCP/IP Networking experience, especially Wireless Access Points setup and troubleshooting  

  • Microsoft Intune MDM experience 

  • Windows 10/11 and MacOS/IOS setup, configuration, and support 

  • Experience creating knowledge articles, documenting processes and best practice. 

  • Scripting and automation skills - PowerShell, Bash scripts 

  • Knowledge of GDPR/Cybersecurity principles and practices 

  • Network switching/routing. 

  • Microsoft Windows Servers 

  • Project Management skills
