Stowe School’s Careers Department aims to equip every Stoic with all the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about life beyond School.
We are fully committed to providing exceptional careers advice to our pupils throughout their time at Stowe School and achieve this by delivering an in-house Careers Programme; this is supported by Lower School and Sixth Form Tutors, led by the Head of Careers and our Careers Advisor, who have been specially trained in different areas of careers guidance.
Having a Head of Careers and a dedicated Careers Advisor means that we can ensure that our careers advice is up-to-date and relevant in today’s fast-changing job market and the constantly evolving world of university provision. This makes it easier for students to choose a career path that is right for them.
Careers education at Stowe is complimented by a range of electronic services working in partnershp with Unifrog and other specialist advice providers.
Stoics can book a careers appointment with the Careers Team to discuss GCSE and A-level choices, degree or degree level apprenticeships and work experience. We can fit the careers interviews and advice sessions around our pupils’ busy days, meaning they don’t have to miss any lessons and can often do them in the comfort of their boarding houses.
The Careers Department is located in the Adams Building (A004), where you can meet the careers advisor and access a range resources.
We work closely with external partners, employers and universties, as well as its extensive Old Stoic network, to introduce students to careers and work experience. Numerous events are hosted each year, including a Careers Week and various careers talks.
Careers education forms a continuous thread throughout a Stoic's time at Stowe. It aims to provide a framework within which each can develop the self-awareness and experience necessary to make balanced decisions at each stage during their time at the school and, hopefully, after they leave.
Stowe's Careers Education & Guidance Programme begins when pupils join in the Third Form at aged 13. It aims to provide increasing contact with the world outside throughout a Stoic's time at school and to help reach those decisions which affect their future in as well informed and balanced a way as possible. Every encouragement is given to discuss the various options with the Houseparent, Tutor and the Careers Staff.
