Our Fantastical Furniture is a great way for families to experience Stowe House!

We have three pieces of Fantastical Furniture: our Wardrobe, our Floor Mirror and our Lion’s Casket. All of our Fantastical Furniture has been carefully planned for families, especially our very youngest visitors. You’ll find each piece of furniture is for playing with; they appeal to your senses and there’s something interactive on each one.

There are special feely bags for babies in our Lion’s Casket and Wardrobe so that even the youngest members of the family can join in the fun!

You may find some or all of these pieces ready to play with when you visit us. They are often located in our amazing historic rooms, and at other times, you’ll find them in our Welcome Centre and Discovery Centre.

Fantastical Wardrobe

Each piece of our Fantastical Furniture connects to the House. Our Wardrobe is inspired by our stunning portraits.

With our Wardrobe, you can dress up, style your own costume from material, draw your portrait, mix and match our portraits and make a felt face. It will keep you busy!

Our feely bag for babies includes plenty of brushes and some baby-friendly figures for little fingers.

Fantastical Lion's Casket

Our Lion’s Casket is all about the Temple-Grenville family’s fabulous wealth – money, money, money! You can make money disappear, just like our Dukes – but maybe you’ll find it again? You can use our gold and silver materials for all sorts of crafting, just like in our fabulous House.

And our interactive picture gallery and our marble maze will show you what happened to the Temple-Grenville family’s fortune… Babies will love our bag of metal objects and set of mirror pebbles  lots of fun with reflection, touch and banging together!

Fantastical Floor Mirror

Our Mirror and Column are designed to let you see the ceiling of our Marble Saloon in a whole new way!

During the school holidays go walking on a truly breath-taking ceiling with our fabulous Floor Mirror (just take your shoes off first)! Babies are welcome to crawl, of course.  And there’s a very special column fitted with viewers to create different effects with what you see…
