Richard Murdin

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Murdin on 21st December.

Richard taught at Winchester House for 38 years, was Housemaster of Red House and oversaw many other roles during his time at School the most recent being Secretary of the Winchester House Association.

Our thoughts are with his wife Valerie and family at this time.

Welcome Back

We enjoy inviting Housians back to School whether in person for a tour of former classrooms, sports pitches, the dining room and former dorms or virtually by Google Meet like the Q&A session kindly given by Housian Phil Harvey, Creative Director of Coldplay.

Other events include our Act of Remembrance Service, Christmas Market, Classic Car Show and Non Nobis Society gatherings.

It is always a delight to hear their tales of life at WHS and to share experiences and memories with them.

With Covid restrictions relaxing, we look forward to once again welcoming Housians back to School.

Sporting Fixtures

Housians are invited to return to School to take part in a variety of sporting  activities.

One of the most tightly fought fixtures is the netball triangular between alumnae, Year 8 girls and Year 8 mothers. Other sports events include hockey, tennis, cricket and golf.

Tailor Made Events

We create tailor made events for Housians wishing to return to School to impart specific knowledge and life experiences with the children.

Lt Commander Colin Harris (1940-1945) and former School Secretary Barbara Harris (1976-79) joined Boarders for a 'Fun Friday' in boarding in the form of a WW2 'Dormitory Evening'.

The event kicked off with a wartime tea in the Drawing Room before the party retired to the Reading Room for wartime time tales and games.
