Anthony Eyton RA studied fine art at Reading University in 1941 before serving in the Army from 1942 to 1947. He went on to study at Camberwell School of Art from 1947 to 1950, and in 1951 received an Abbey Major Scholarship, taking him to work in Italy. Anthony taught at the Royal Academy Schools from 1964 to 1999. Anthony was elected a Royal Academician in 1986 and his paintings have won many accolades and prizes over the years, including the John Moores Prize in 1972 and the Charles Wollaston Award in 1989.

Mark Flawn-Thomas (Grenville 72) is an artist and friend of Anthony and introduced him to Stowe. Together they have been painting and sketching views of the School and landscape gardens over the last 5 years. Mark is probably best known for his distinctive blue pen and ink watercolour paintings. He had his first one man show in 2014 in Studio 73 in Brixton Village. Mark has a permanent exhibition of his work in Brockwell Hall, Herne Hill and his sketches of the great choreographer Adam Darius were exhibited at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2016. Mark was shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2017.
