THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LOW NUMBERS
Old Stoics living in the South East of England and all those interested in wine, are warmly invited to join us for a tour of the Chapel Down Vineyard, in Tenterden, followed by a light lunch at a nearby pub, on Saturday 8 June 2019. Our regional representative for the area, David Lees-Jones (Grenville 65), has kindly lent a hand with the arrangements.
Chapel Down produces a world-class range of sparkling and still wines, together with the award-winning range of Curious beers & cider. Their sparkling wines are created using the Traditional Method, the same as Champagne, from fruit sourced from the South-East of England.
The tour will include an introduction to Chapel Down followed by a short walk to the vineyards to learn about how they use the English climate to grow fantastic, ripe fruit. In the winery we will see the processes used to transform great fruit into great wines and how sparkling wines are made using the intricate Traditional Method. The tour will end with a tutored tasting of their award-winning sparkling and still wines.
Our tour will begin at 10.30am and will last for 1 hour and 45 minutes, after which our group will travel to a nearby pub for a light lunch. Friends and guests are very welcome to attend.
Tickets are £15 each to include the tour and a light lunch.
