About the event

Location: State Rooms, Stowe House

Join us for a glass of wine and to hear Dr Myles Campbell, the Curator and Researcher for Dublin Castle.   Having been awarded the George B. Clarke prize to carry original research into the history of Stowe, Dr. Campbell finished his research on the links between the creation of the Throne Room at Dublin by the Marquess of Buckingham in 1788, through the Italian artists, Vincenzo Valdre, who also worked at Stowe at a slightly earlier period. This forms part of the book that accompanies the new exhibition at Dublin Castle from 25th September 2017 to 28th April 2018 - Making Majesty: Building and Borrowing the Regal Image at Dublin Castle.
Dr. Campbell's lecture will focus on the link between the Marquess's work at Dublin Castle and at Stowe, and will take place in the beautiful Valdre-created Music Room.
