The Jeremy Nichols Bursary

Former Headmaster (1989 - 2003)

Honouring a Remarkable Educator

Jeremy Nichols, Headmaster of Stowe from 1989–2003, was a passionate and inspirational teacher who dedicated his life to helping every child achieve their best. Whether teaching English, running the First XI football team, serving as a Tutor, or as a Housemaster, Jeremy brought energy, charisma, and belief in the potential of every student. His impact extended across the schools he worked at, including Rugby, Eton, and Stowe, leaving a lasting legacy on generations of young people.

Supporting Talented Children

The Jeremy Nichols Bursary was established in 2020 by Jeremy’s family in partnership with Stowe, to honour his legacy and ensure his commitment to education lives on. The bursary provides fully funded boarding education for talented children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to flourish academically, socially, and personally.

Through this bursary, Jeremy’s belief in every child’s potential continues to open doors and transform lives, ensuring that children who might otherwise miss out can benefit from a life-changing Stowe education.

Emily-Paige: The First Recipient

Emily-Paige was the first student to benefit from the Jeremy Nichols Bursary. She had always dreamed of attending boarding school, but financial constraints made it seem impossible. The bursary made that dream a reality.

At Stowe, Emily-Paige excelled academically and embraced a wide range of opportunities. She was the only girl in the Motorsport Club, eventually becoming Club President, and achieved distinctions in her exams. Today, she is studying Sports Business Management at Lincoln University, with aspirations to work in Formula 1.

“I would not be where I am today without the belief in the Jeremy Nichols Bursary and the support of the Stowe community,” Emily-Paige reflects.

Her story exemplifies the transformative power of the bursary and the lasting impact of Jeremy Nichols’ legacy.
