Polo is one of the most exciting and distinctive sporting opportunities available at Stowe, and it continues to grow in popularity among our riders. With more than 20 pupils currently involved, our players range from complete beginners who are just discovering the sport to highly accomplished riders, including England U18 representatives. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone, whatever their starting point, can enjoy the thrill and challenge of the game.
The sport is played throughout all three terms, both in the arena and out on the grass during the summer months. Stowe benefits from the expertise of an experienced HPA-accredited coach and a trusted pony provider, making polo accessible to all without the need to own a pony.
Training sessions are held twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, giving pupils the chance to develop their skills, teamwork and horsemanship in a supportive environment.
Competitive opportunities are a highlight of the programme. Stowe regularly fields teams against some of the country’s leading schools, including Harrow, Wellington, Eton, Radley and Cheltenham. Our pupils also take part in national fixtures and tournaments, and recent years have brought impressive success: we were proud winners of the Schools National Arena Championship as well as the prestigious Copenhagen Cup at Guards Polo Club.
Each year, Stowe takes four teams to the National SUPA Championships, reflecting both the breadth and depth of talent within the programme.
Whether pupils aspire to play socially, improve their riding or compete at the highest school level, polo at Stowe offers an inspiring and memorable sporting experience.
