Stoics can practise athletics every day in the Summer term on the fantastic David Donaldson track which was opened by Lord Sebastian Coe in 2009. We are fortunate to have several experienced staff to help coach the pupils in a range of events with specialisms in throwing, jumping, sprinting and middle-distance running. 

Athletes will get the opportunity to represent the School at meetings held at various schools such as Uppingham, Bromsgrove, Oundle, Rugby and Marlborough throughout the term. We also enter the Track & Field Cup at Intermediate age groups for boys and girls. 

The highlight of the year for many at Stowe is Sports Day which is always a great occasion, seeing several hundred athletes compete for their houses to win the prestigious trophy.  

Stowe has produced athletes who have gone on to achieve International honours, Marylin Okoro (Stanhope 2003) represented GB in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and Zoe Pollock (Nugent 2017) recently won 400m hurdles in the European Under 23 championships.
