Why do we gather and use personal information?
The Old Stoic Society gathers the personal information of its members in order to:
How do you update or change the information that we collect?
You can update your details by contacting the OS Office by email, phone or letter. You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we have about you, and to correct any inaccuracies.
Does the Old Stoic Society provide your personal information to other organisations?
The Old Stoic Society will not give or sell your personal information to any outside organisation for that organisation's own use without your consent. Your information may however be shared with agents or contractors of the Old Stoic Society when they provide services to the Society, only if necessary and with confidentiality assured.
The Old Stoic Society may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to a) conform with the law; b) protect and defend the rights or property of the Old Stoic Society or Stowe School or c) act in circumstances where it is necessary to protect the personal safety of members of the Old Stoic Society or other members of the Stowe School community.
Who else can access your data?
Members of the Old Stoic Society may request names and addresses if they wish to contact other Old Stoics, or to undertake a non-commercial mailing on behalf of the Old Stoic Society, e.g. to organise a House Dinner, Year Group Dinner, Regional Dinner or sports fixture. We will confirm that the person requesting the information is a bona fide member of the Old Stoic Society before releasing contact details of members to them.
If we are asked for information about an Old Stoic by someone who is NOT a member of the Old Stoic Society or who does NOT work for Stowe School, we will pass the contact details of the person requesting the information to the Old Stoic concerned so that the release of their personal information to that individual is their choice.
How do you opt out of being contacted by the Old Stoic Society or Stowe School, or request that your contact details are not disclosed to other Old Stoics?
Please inform the Old Stoic Office on 01280 818252 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
