West Africa Cycle Challenge
3 December 2017
Nick Johnston (Chandos 08) will be cycling through Sierra Leone and Liberia in January for Street Child, supporting some of the most vulnerable children in two of Africa's poorest countries.
Visiting projects and riding over 300km on dirt roads through humid and hot conditions, Nick and team will be helping children impacted by the Ebola outbreak of 2014-15. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
Nick writes, “I would be extremely grateful for any support to help Street Child. Importantly, anything you donate will be matched by the UK Government, meaning that your money will go twice as far. And not a penny of your donations will go towards funding the trip, I've taken care of that & all proceeds will go directly to Street Child.
Any donation, no matter how large or small would be greatly appreciated, but to give you some reference:
£10 can provide a school uniform; £20 can send a child to primary school for a year; £100 can provide textbooks for a whole classroom of children in a rural school; £250 can provide a mother with a business grant and training so they can afford to send their children to school;£500 can fund training for 10 teachers and raise teaching standards; £1,000 can provide all the necessary classroom furniture and resources for a village school.”
