The Online Auction

10 November 2020

Following the incredible success of our Operation Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, the Community Projects Team would like to ask for your support in our latest fundraising initiative to help UK families this Christmas.

Who are we supporting?

Those on very low incomes in the Buckingham area who will struggle to provide for their families over the Christmas period. The current pandemic has exacerbated this situation and is causing very real issues for those living within our communities.

What are the issues?

  • The Trussell Trust predicts that at least 670,000 extra people will become destitute in the last three months of the year – a level of poverty that leaves them unable to meet basic food, shelter or clothing needs.
  • Almost one million under-10s from low-income families nationwide face a festive season with little to celebrate, lacking basics such as a heated home, warm winter coat or fresh food.
  • New research shows parents below the breadline are able to spend on average just £2 a day per child on food.
  • Thousands of people have lost their jobs due to their workplace closing and have been particularly hard hit just before Christmas.

What are we doing to help?

The Community Projects Team is holding a charity auction to raise the funds required to provide Christmas Hampers for vulnerable families in the Buckingham area.
