Stowe 10 Years Out

14 October 2017

On Saturday, 14 October we welcomed ninely 2007 leavers back to Stowe for their 10th Anniversary Reunion.

From the momnet they arrvied, the excitement amongst the group was clearly evident: they seemed delighted to be back at Stowe.  After registration, the majority of the Old Stoics (some of which were previous 1st XV players) made their way to the North Front to watch the 1st XV rugby team take on Bromsgrove.  Others choose to watch Lacrosse on the South Front, catch up with members of staff or enjoy the surroundings of the House and Gardens.

After the matches, our wonderful Catering team served a beautiful array of tasty hot snacks, sandwiches and cakes, which were gratefully received by our guests.  The Old Stoics continued to catch up on stories before being escorted around the school to re-visit old haunts.

The Tuck shop was our first stop! Who knew a slush puppy could bring so much pleasure! They also visited the Chapel, Music School, Roxburgh Hall, Art Building and Stowebucks, before finishing at the new Science Centre. Our guests were impressed at the changes to our facilities. James Tearle kindly laid on a display of his legendary magic tricks in the Science Centre, which delighted the group.

After the tours, our guests enjoyed a glass of fizz on the South Portico. The Headmaster gave an entertaining speech, which included several anecdotes on some of the Old Stoics present. A delightful informal supper was served in the Music Room, after which our guests departed to carry on their evening at a local pub.

We would like to thank everyone at Stowe for their help with the arrangements for this Reunion, especially the catering team who, once again, pulled out all the stops for our guests.
