The 15.00 show will be live streamed via the V&A Facebook page.
Phoebe writes, “Taking part in Fashion in Motion has a particular significance to me, as the V&A was the museum in which I decided to follow my interest in fashion. It is the building where my love for clothing and design were contextualised into a tangible practice and pathway. The V&A is a temple to all the endless creative possibilities of the human mind. To have the opportunity to be involved with both such an historic and contemporary space is a very special thing indeed.”
Phoebe English has established a luxury womenswear and menswear label creating garments with an attention to precision and beauty. The Phoebe English label is proud to be entirely ‘Made in England’. Phoebe stages her collections within imaginative fashion set designs which offer an immersive experience to the audience. Regularly referencing lost or little-used fabrication techniques, a respect for construction and the ‘mark of the maker’ aims to set the label apart from mass made fashion and trend led design - a permanence in the transience of fashion. An intricate balance between craft and design remains at the heart of each collection.
Phoebe was awarded numerous awards on graduating the Central Saint Martins MA Fashion program including the L'Oreal ‘Professional Creative Award’, the ‘Ungaro’ Bursary and the ‘Chloe’ Award. Her inaugural collection was picked up by Dover Street Market London. In June 2013, Phoebe English was awarded the coveted ‘Venture Program’ by the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, a 2 year mentoring and sponsorship program. At the beginning of 2015, Phoebe was listed as a Forbes ’30 under 30’ in their influential Art and Style category. Phoebe English has also been awarded the British Fashion Council’s prestigious NEWGEN award for her menswear collections.
A pop up shop will also feature on the day and comprise a selection of garments from the Phoebe English archive alongside pieces crafted especially for the V&A, and unique pieces exclusively sold at special V&A promotional prices.
