6 October 2017

On the evening of Friday 6 October we hosted, at the invitation of Dr Milla Marinova (Lyttelton 03), the inaugural OS Oxbridge Dinner at the Oxford and Cambridge Club, on Pall Mall.

The evening began with a Drinks Reception in the opulent Upper Drawing Room.  We then moved to the beautiful Princess Marie Louise Room for an exquisite Three Course Dinner.  The ambience of the surroundings added to the evening and created a very jubilant atmosphere.

Once dinner had been served, we had the pleasure of listening to speeches by Milla Marinova, who welcomed us to the club and explained how she became involved with the Young Members committee.  This was of particular interest to some of our younger guests, who left Stowe as recently as 2015.

Dr Mike Anderson (Cobham 57) followed on from Milla, entertaining us with his time at Stowe and Cambridge; providing witty anecdotes from his earlier years. In addition Mike emphasised how he felt that the education, advice and assistance he received during his time at Stowe, helped him to secure his place at Cambridge.  Jonathon Hall (Bruce 79), Chair of the Old Stoic Society, closed the speeches with a vote of thanks to our speakers and to our guests for attending.

The success of the evening was evident with the age range of our guests, from as recent as 2015 leavers to as far back as 1947, everyone was able to provide their own Oxbridge experiences and swap marvellous stories in the process.

The evening was a true celebration of what we believe will be a permanent fixture on the events calendar for many years to come. A very big thank you to Dr Milla Marinova for suggesting this wonderfully successful occasion.
