OSGS Spring Meeting Report
4 May 2016
21 golfers with handicaps from 5 to 25 attended the Spring Meeting at Woking.
With good weather and the course in great shape some excellent scores were achieved. This was also the best turn out at this meeting for many a year and a credit to the meeting manager, Nick Luddington.
Tom Sleater and William Waddell-Dudley (36.5 points) just edged out David Ewbank and Charlie Gartside on a last six holes countback to win the morning foursomes with Chris and Nick Luddington in third place.
In the afternoon singles Charlie Gartside spread eagled the field with a gross 71 (41 stableford points) that included five birdies. William Waddell-Dudley scored an excellent 37 points while Stewart McNair, Don Jeffreys and David Ewbank also scored well.
Encouragingly there were two players to compete for the Under 30s Foster Salver with Freddie Elliott on his OSGS debut beating last year's winner, Hamish Edwards.
The excellent turn out was even more impressive given that 15 of the competitors attended a superb dinner at Boodles the night before that was as ever brilliantly organised by Angus Campbell.
The OSGS Summer Meeting is at Aldeburgh on 2nd and 3rd July. If you are interested in playing in any meetings or matches email Peter Simmons at p.j.g.simmons@herts.ac.uk
