Autumn Meeting at Hunstanton, 20 & 21 October

Nearly a maximum turn out of Old Stoic golfers, including a debut from Ollie Carr, enjoyed beautiful weather at the Hunstanton Autumn Meeting. Charles Consett & Angus Campbell beat Neil Gray & Nigel Wright in the Lucas Langley foursomes final while Tim Maynard scored an excellent 75 to win the Secretary's Scratch Salver and the Nigel Chittenden Trophy (40 points) despite low scratch scores from Charles Consett and Neil Gray. Nigel Wright won the Peter Piper 50+ Salver (38 points) and Angus Campbell managed a miserly 28 putts in the St Andrews Putter. The AGM was held after play on Saturday (full report below and attached) followed by dinner at the Heacham Manor Hotel where we were joined by Daniel Addison, nephew of Laddie Lucas, and his wife - unfortunately the Lucas golfing genes passed Daniel by.

Dick Watson Trophy at Aldeburgh, 13 & 14 October

A disappointing Saturday performance meant that Jeremy Scowsill, William Hill, Nigel Wright and Ian Bendell could not go one better than last year and qualified for the 7th v 8th play off against Winchester. However the team were a different proposition on Sunday and easily won their play off to finish 7th of the 15 schools competing

Match v Haileybury at Sunningdale, 18 November

Peter Comber peter.comber@parkasset.com has a team of 12 to defend the trophy the Old Stoics won last year. The team includes Nick & Chris Luddington, William Waddell Dudley, Lorne Williamson, Nick Rice, Paul McSweeney, John Da Silva, Peter Simmons, David Ewbank, Charles Dimpfl and Peter.

2019 Fixture List

Planning for the 2019 Fixture List is well advanced and will be distributed in the next month.

It will include a special 'Farewell to the Old Course' event to be held on Saturday 28 September 2019. Put this date in your diary as we are looking for up to 40 players to compete for a range of prizes including a House Competition (Cobham favourites to win again!), Ladies Trophy and Under 30s Trophy.
