RESULTS:
Halford Hewitt at Deal - 5 April
Stowe found out the hard way that there are no weak teams in the Hewitt nowadays. Brighton started well and were two up in four matches after 9 holes. The experience of Haydn Brooks & Peter Hale and Sean Morris & Charlie Rotheroe came into play on the back 9 and both pairs won 2/1. Brighton then won two matches leaving it to Matt Bazeley and Charlie Gartside to win the third point. All square on the 18th tee Stowe managed an unlikely half with a gritty putt and so to the 19th in the dark. Despite Stowe's drive ending on the practice putting green Brighton were inches from the water but held their nerve for the win.
Stowe restored some pride by beating Taunton in the plate with wins for Morris & Rotheroe and Rob Samuel & Peter Jarvis. In the second round a youthful, very low handicap, Loretto team always had the edge although the top pair had to play under par to shake off Morris & Rotheroe.

FIXTURES:
