RESULTS
Halford Hewitt – 8 April at St Georges
Despite a promising practice match against The Leys at Rye the day before Haydn Brooks’ team (David Johnstone, Sean Morris, Charlie Gartside, Peter Jarvis, Rob Samuel, Angus Campbell, Charlie Consett, Tony Edgerley & Stewart MacNair) lost to Whitgift 4-1 at St Georges. Confidence was somewhat repaired with a 2.5 to 0.5 win over Wellingborough in the plate but in the second round the Leys edged another win with Haydn Brooks and Stewart Mc Nair proving a useful mixture of youth and experience. Planning has already started on the team for 2017 with the Grafton Morrish qualifying at North Hants  (8th May) providing an opportunity to test new players and pairs.

Spring Meeting at Woking 30 April
21 golfers with handicaps from 5 to 25 attended the Spring Meeting at Woking. This was the best turn out at this meeting for many a year and a credit to the meeting manager, Nick Luddington.
Tom Sleater and William Waddell-Dudley (36.5 points) just edged out David Ewbank and Charlie Gartside on countback to win the foursomes with Chris and Nick Luddington in third place.

In the singles Charlie Gartside spread eagled the field with a gross 71 (41 stableford points) that included five birdies. William Waddell-Dudley scored an excellent 37 points while Stewart McNair, Don Jeffreys and David Ewbank also scored well.

Encouragingly two players competed for the Under 30s Foster Salver with Freddie Elliott on his debut beating last year's winner, Hamish Edwards.
The excellent turn out was even more impressive given that 15 of the competitors attended a superb dinner at Boodles the night before that was as ever brilliantly organised by Angus Campbell.

Match v Old Canfordians at Sunningdale 1 May
Cyril Gray Captain and Match Manager, Stewart McNair, used this fixture to look at players for the Cyril Gray team (Over 50s). The combination of Cyril Gray regulars and some returners (Guy Robinson back from China & Greg Choyce) proved up to the task with a narrow win over a strong Canford team.
It bodes well for the Cyril Gray at Worplesdon on 23rd to 25th June - all support welcome.
