Golf1


It is less than a week to the first OSGS fixture of 2016. Extra players are needed for all the March fixtures so please look at what is on offer and contact the relevant match or meeting manager. Do not wait to be asked and if you have any questions contact me.

Match v The School at Woking: 8 March

A team of six plays the School on the practice day before the Micklem Trophy. So far Peter Hale, Nick Luddington, Mike Anderson, Peter Comber and I are down to play. So just one more player needed. Northern Meeting at Formby: 11 & 12 March 

James Gartside has had a good response but 4 places are still available. We play singles competitions on the Formby (Friday afternoon following sandwich lunch) and the Formby Ladies (Saturday morning) courses with an overnight stay in the Dormy House. This is a great value, sociable meeting for golfers of all standard with a 50% discount on the golf costs for those under 30. Birkdale Bucket at Woodhall Spa: 19 & 20 March

8 Northern schools compete for the Birkdale Bucket on a fantastic early season course. We need a minimum of four players (only Don Jeffreys, Peter Summers & me entered so far) and the more we have of all handicap levels the better. Details of this meeting are attached. 
As with other team events the green fee cost for the two rounds (£80) will be funded by the OSGS. 
If you want to play complete the attached entry form and send it to Charles Webb – also tell me you have entered so I can arrange to refund you the golf cost at the event.

Halford Hewitt – 8t April at St Georges

The team play Whitgift at 8.20pm at St Georges on Friday 8th April and all support would be very welcome. To take advantage of the extra days practice a match against Old Leysians has been arranged at Rye on Thursday 7th April. Captain Haydn Brooks is planning his team with trials scheduled for this month. haydnbrooks@googlemail.com 

Spring Meeting at Woking 30 April

Our first meeting of the year is a bit earlier this year. There are rounds of foursomes and singles and Nick Luddington is the Meeting Manager. There is a 50% discount on the green fee for those under 30. If you want to play email Nick at dee.parkers@btconnect.com  

The Boodles Dinner on Friday 29 April 

This is a fun evening where both gentlemen and lady OS golfers are welcome with superb food, wine, company and the ideal warm up for the Spring Meeting at Woking.  The total cost in the past has not exceeded £90 per head. Contact Angus Campbell  ajmcampbell@gmail.com or 07881 625098 as soon as possible if you would like to attend or want further information.  Remember there is a strict dress code of suit and tie at the Club (equivalent attire for ladies).
