Here is the latest update on the activities of the Golfing Society.

RESULTS:

Cyril Gray at Worplesdon 23-25 June
The team of David Julius, Martyn Palmer, Greg Choyce, Tony Edgerley, Ben Dixey and John Rowe beat Blundell’s and Merchant Taylors but were just edged out 2-1 by Rossall in the third round. Stand in Captain, David Julius, lead from the front winning all his matches with his partner Martyn Palmer.

Summer Meeting at Aldeburgh 2-3 July
A select group enjoyed a great Summer Meeting at Aldeburgh, well organised as ever by Perry Hunt. The weekend started on Friday with a match against the club which the Society lost closely 1-2. On Saturday the singles round was played in windy conditions with Jeremy Scowsill winning the Buchanan Trophy with an 82. Andrew Clarke had the best Stableford score with 32 points closely followed by Nick Luddington with 31.
After an excellent dinner at the Bell at Saxmundham the foursomes competition was on Sunday morning with Jeremy Scowsill and William Hill producing the ‘least worst’ Stableford score.

This is an excellent meeting at a beautiful location with lots of things for the non-golfers to do. It deserves a better attendance level so please put July 1st and 2nd in your diary for 2017 now.
 
THE AUTUMN MEETING AT HUNSTANTON ON 15-16 OCT
This year the meeting is at Hunstanton with singles and foursomes competitions and a dinner on Saturday night at the King William 1V. Maximum number is 16 and I have several entries already. Match v The School at Stoke Park on 28 Sept
We pay no green fee for this match, courtesy of Old Stoic Chester King, so we encourage younger Old Stoics to play. Contact Match Manager Peter Simmons p.j.g.simmons@herts.ac.uk

Grafton Morrish Finals at Brancaster/Hunstanton on 7-9 Oct
Haydn Brooks haydnbrooks@gogglemail.com is selecting the team that will play Culford (first time they have qualified since 2001) at 9.04am on Friday 7 Oct at Brancaster.

Dick Watson Trophy at Aldeburgh on 8/9th Oct
Jeremy Scowsill’s jeremyscowsill@btconnect.com  team for this event is William Hill, Ian Bendell, Nigel Wright and himself. Additional schools have entered this year despite the fact it clashes with the Grafton Morrish Finals further up the coast.
