Happy New Year and welcome to the 2020 season, particularly to the 2019 Leavers who are receiving this Update for the first time.

An updated 2020 Fixture List is attached with 23 events at fantastic courses across the country.

Contact details for the Meeting and Match Managers are included so if you want to play just email or call them. Any queries just contact me.

All those under 30 are entitled to a 50% discount on green fee costs and help with accommodation where appropriate.

We start the season with four fixtures in March:

- Sunday 1 March - Match v The School at Sunningdale:

A light lunch followed by an afternoon match. An opportunity for Halford Hewitt players and the School team to sharpen their game ahead of the Hewitt and Micklem Trophy respectively.

Team to be organised by me pjgsimmons@gmail.com and Haydn Brooks haydnbrooks@googlemail.com Martyn Palmer, James Scott, Jack Scott and Adam Carling have asked to play but we will need some Sunningdale members as well.

- Tuesday 10 March - Match v The School at Woking:

A morning match following breakfast on the practice day before the Micklem Trophy. I will organise the team pjgsimmons@gmail.com Alex Saary, James Nash and Greg Choyce down to play already but three more places available.

- Saturday/Sunday 14/15 March - Birkdale Bucket at Woodhall Spa:

Stowe competes with seven other 'Northern' Schools (Uppingham, Oundle, Wrekin, Sedbergh, Pocklington, Giggleswick and Worksop) on a fantastic course. Singles on Saturday and foursomes on Sunday with practice round available on Friday. A minimum of 4 players of any standard needed to ensure we do not win the Wooden Spoon for the third year running.

Full details and entry form attached. The Society pays the green fee cost (£100) of all entrants. If you enter please notify me pjgsimmons@gmail.com so I know who to refund.

- Friday/Saturday 20/21 March - Northern Meeting at Formby:

A great value meeting at a terrific course organised by James Gartside jamesgartside@macdonaldandtaylor.com - get your name down early to ensure accommodation in the Dormy House.

James will be chasing up the regular attendees but all OSGS players from across the country are welcome to attend.

- The Halford Hewitt - 2-5 April at Royal St Georges and Deal:

The Draw takes place on 15th January at the East India Club in St James Square. The availability of prospective players is being checked so if you are a low single figure handicap player and feel you should be considered email me pjgsimmons@gmail.com
