Below is a report on our Summer Meeting at Aldeburgh and details of what is available to you for the rest of the year.
Players are needed for Matches at New Zealand (31st Aug), Stoke Park (11th Sept) and Stowe (14th Sept) - details below.
The OSGS is open to all Old Stoic golfers, male and female of all standards. We are particularly keen for younger Old Stoic and Lady golfers to take part and Under 30 year old discounts apply at all fixtures.
Don't wait to be asked to play in any fixture just contact the Match/Meeting Manager or me.
RESULTS:
6/7th July Summer Meeting at Aldeburgh:
A great Summer Meeting at Aldeburgh was as ever brilliantly organised by Perry Hunt. Jeremy Scowsill won the Buchanan Scratch Trophy with a 77 while William Hill had the best Stableford score of 35 with OSGS debutant Francis Law runner up with 34. Jeremy Scowsill and William Hill then combined to win the Sunday foursomes by a large margin. Miles Hunt, Jeremy Hinds and Jeremy Taylor also made their OSGS debuts.

31st August Match v Old Gregorians at New Zealand: 5 more players needed urgently

11th September Match v The School at Stoke Park: 3 more players needed
An afternoon match against the School courtesy of Chester King at the impressive Stoke Park. Team of six needed and so far Alex Saary, Hugo Douglass and me down to play.

14th September Match v 2009 Leavers at Stowe: New Fixture & 5 more players needed
The Society has been challenged by a group of 2009 Leavers to a match at Stowe on Old Stoic Day when there are special reunions for those who left 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago. The 2009 Leavers will be celebrating their 10th anniversary of leaving. The challenge has been accepted and so far Stewart McNair, Hugo Douglass and I are down to play and we need five more. Tee off is likely to be 2.30pm. If you want to play - the last OSGS fixture on the current course apart from the Farewell event - then contact me pjgsimmons@gmail.com
'Farewell to the Old Course' on Saturday 28th September 2019: Sold out & Reserve List in operation
Over 40 entries with Chatham (11), Walpole (8), Cobham (5) and Grenville (6) leading the way. The Old Stoic Society Chairman, Hannah Durden (Nugent), has entered with other lady golfers. 40 players will compete for prizes including Best House, Best Stableford, Best Scratch and Ladies. Tee off from 10.00am followed by lunch at the School. Cost including lunch and prizes will be £50.
I have a reserve list as I know how unreliable Old Stoics can be!

12-13th October Autumn Meeting at Brancaster: Nearly Sold Out
A mixture of singles and foursomes over the weekend. Already 17 have entered including David Ewbank, Neil Gray, Jack Scott, Adam Carling, Ollie Carr, Peter Simmons, Francis Law, John Da Silva, Lorne Williamson, Tim Maynard, Jim Marshall-Andrew, Charlie Consett, Angus Campbell, Mark Flawn Thomas and Nick, Chris and John Luddington. There are a few other probables/possibles and we can take up to 20 with Brancaster members particularly welcome as they reduce the cost for all. Contact pjgsimmons@gmail.com
The AGM of the OSGS is on Saturday evening with the election of a new President and Vice Captain on the Agenda this year. Full Agenda in the September Update.
10th November Match v Haileybury at Sunningdale:
The last fixture of the year is at Sunningdale against Haileybury. A friendly match played on a great course followed by an excellent lunch. If you would like to be in the team of 12 contact Peter Comber peter.comber@parkasset.com as soon as possible as this is a popular fixture.
