Match v The School at Woking & Micklem Trophy:
The School team more than gained revenge for their Sunningdale loss with a clear 5-1 win on the Micklem Trophy practice day with Jonny Rowe the only Old Stoic victor. In the Micklem after a narrow loss to Bradfield (eventual winners) in the first round The School team then beat Harrow and Charterhouse to win the plate competition. This is clear evidence of the positive impact that Andrew Hancox as Stowe Golf Professional is having on the team as well as widening participation in golf generally at the school.

Northern Meeting at Formby: 10-12 March
Very well organised by James Gartside the meeting had a record turn out of 20 golfers with handicaps from 1 to 24  and was good practice for some of Haydn Brooks Halford Hewitt players. On Friday the David Hadfield Salver was won on the Formby course by Sean Morris with an excellent 37 points with Charles Gartside second with 35 points just pipping brother James. The round was followed by an enjoyable dinner in the Formby Clubhouse and some very competitive snooker. On Saturday morning the shorter but challenging Formby Ladies course was the venue for a new trophy (yet to be named). There were some excellent scores with Charles Consett (37) and Angus Campbell (39) to the fore but not able to match the three under par 68 of Haydn Brooks (42) which was beaten by the 43 points scored by Peter Simmons.

Birkdale Bucket at Woodhall Spa: 18 & 19 March
OSGS comfortably 'won' the Wooden Spoon as with only two golfers, Peter Comber and Peter Simmons, it was difficult to compete when all the other teams had four scores to count. However Peter Simmons recovered the cost of the weekend by coming 5th in the Sunday foursomes with his partner from Wrekin.
It is hoped that details of the 60th Anniversary event at Ilkley on 9th June will be available soon.
