RESULTS
Match v The School at Woking: 8 March
Peter Hale, Chris & Nick Luddington, Mike Anderson, Peter Comber and I provided a relatively inexperienced School team with good practice the day before the Micklem Trophy. The OSGS team won 4.5 to 1.5 and the School lost in the first round of the Micklem to Bradfield who ran the Wellington Golf Scholars very close in the final.
Northern Meeting at Formby: 11 & 12 March
James Gartside organised an excellent meeting which 12 members attended. Charlie Gartside was on good form and won both the David Hadfield Salver on Friday afternoon (36 points) and the Saturday morning round on the challenging Ladies’ course (38 points). Your Secretary was runner up on both days. This is a great value, sociable meeting for golfers of all standard that warrants a higher turn-out. Dates for 2017 are about to be confirmed.
Birkdale Bucket at Woodhall Spa: 19 & 20 March
Despite a team of two (Don Jeffreys & Peter Simmons) we comfortably avoided winning the Wooden Spoon by outscoring Giggleswick who also only had two players. 2017 is the 60th Anniversary of the Bucket and all efforts should be made to ensure we field a minimum of four players.
