Old Stoic Golfing Society - April 2022 Update
As you can see below there is a busy programme of matches, meetings and team events right through to November.
If you want to play in any fixture, just contact the Team or Meeting Manager, or me - don't wait to be asked to play!
April to July fixtures 2022
Halford Hewitt - 7-10 April at Royal St Georges and Royal Cinque Ports (Deal):
Stowe play Harrow at Royal St Georges at 3pm on 7 April. Matt Bazeley's team is an excellent mixture of youth and experience with Charlie Rotheroe, Ollie Clarke (debut), Hugo Douglass, Peter Jarvis, Jean-Michel Hall, Charlie Consett, James Scott (debut), Julian Stocks, Freddie Horlick and Toby Stocks.

Spring Meeting - 30 April at Woking: Room for 3 or 4 more players
The first meeting of the year. Singles in the morning with Scratch, Stableford and U30 trophies. The foursomes follow the usual excellent Woking lunch. Please contact Meeting Manager Nick Luddington nicholasluddington@hotmail.co.uk if you would like to play. Up to 20 can be accommodated and so far we have 17 in Matt Bazeley, Jean-Michel Hall, Roddy Blackurne, Ben Wackett, Nick & Chris Luddington, Peter Simmons, Harry Speir (OSGS debut), Chris Hutber, Jon Horrocks, Adam Carling, William Hill (OSGS captain), David Ewbank, Nigel Wright, John da Silva, Jim Marshall-Andrew and Angus Campbell are down to play.
Match v Canford - 1 May at Sunningdale: More players needed urgently

Match v The Templars - 14 May at Royal Cinq Port (Deal): More players needed for OSGS and Templars teams
This is a very sociable match against the Stowe Templars on a fantastic links course. David Ewbank is the OSGS Match Manager david.ewbank@btinternet.com and Tom Sleater thomas.sleater@credit-suisse.com runs the Templars team
Grafton Morrish Qualifying - 22 May at Worplesdon (12pm tee off):
The Society missed out on qualifying by just one point last year. Team of six low handicap players for three scratch foursomes pairs. Matt Bazeley and Jean Michel-Hall down to play so far. Contact Matt Bazeley mpbazeley@hotmail.com
Match v The School - 28 May (Speech Day) at Stowe:
A large team is needed to take on the School team on the excellent new Stowe Course complete with new clubhouse. This will be the first Speech Day since 2019. Chris Luddington, Johnny Rowe, Ben Dixey, Brian Marcel and I are down to play but at least 8 needed for the fourball better ball match. Opportunities to play on the new course are currently limited to playing with a Stowe Golf Club member so this is your chance. Contact me pjgsimmons@gmail.com if you want to play.
Midland Public Schools Meeting - 22 June at Little Aston:
Team of 8 of any handicap required for this excellent event at a lovely course. Contact me pjgsimmons@gmail.com for further information or if you want to play. Green fee cost covered by the Society. Ideally located near Birmingham for our Northern Members
Cyril Gray Over 50s Tournament - 23-25 June at Worplesdon:
Peter Jarvis jarvis_peter@yahoo.com is recruiting for this event of which Stowe have been multiple winners. If you want to be considered and play off a single figure handicap contact Peter. There is also an informal Dinner at Worplesdon being held at Worplesdon at 7.30pm on Wednesday 22nd June to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Cyril Gray - contact Peter Jarvis or Stewart McNair md@mcnairpartnership.com if you are interested in attending.
Summer Meeting - 2-3 July at Aldeburgh:
A lovely weekend on the Suffolk coast with lots for non golfers to do. Singles on Saturday and foursomes on Sunday with the option of a warm up match v Aldeburgh GC on Friday afternoon.
