OS Lacrosse

13 September 2021

For the first time in a long time, Old Stoics were able to field an OS lacrosse team who took on the School team, in their new kit, on Saturday 4 September. It was an experienced team comprising girls from Nugent, Stanhope, Lyttelton and Queen’s and contained no fewer than three current and recent internationals alongside three girls from the cohort that left this summer.

Goals from Philly Stacey (Nugent 17), Zara Vickers (Stanhope 20), Frankie Macleod Matthews (Nugent 21) and Zara Nichols (Lyttelton 11) all scored in the first half, however, a very young Stowe X coped well and Emelia Brett (Fourth Form, Queen’s) scored first for the School.

Recently appointed School captains, Rosie Grayson (Upper Sixth, Nugent) and Savannah King (Upper Sixth, Stanhope), worked tirelessly in midfield, but the options to score were limited by an experienced defence led by Amber Capurro (Nugent 20) and Jose Brake (Lyttelton 11). At the end of the first half, the score was 6-1 to the OS team.

The second half followed a similar pattern with goals scored by Zara Vickers, Philly, Frankie and Claudia Button (Nugent 12). The School replied to this with a well taken shot from Rosie making the final score 2-11.

It was great to see Old Stoics back at the Stowe playing lacrosse and we look forward to future fixtures.
