OS Cycle Ride

11 September 2021

On Saturday 11 September, ahead of Old Stoic Day activities, with the sun shining, we saw our first group of Old Stoic Cyclists depart from the North Front for the inaugural OS Cycle Ride, kindly organised by John Stopford (Walpole 86) and Jonathan Bannister (Walpole 86).

After some quick refreshments, the group headed off on a 50-mile ride, briefly stopping around at Wootton Underwood to look at the Grenville Mortuary Chapel, before heading to Brill for a delicious lunch at The Pheasant.

After lunch, the group split in to two groups to enable those who wished to test their abilities to head off at a faster pace.

At 3.30pm, we saw the first group of cyclists arrive back at the North Front with the remainder of the pack arriving back shortly after – just in time to join our Old Stoic Day guests for afternoon tea.

We would like to thank both John and Jonathan for taking the time to plan and organise the cycle ride, which was enjoyed by everyone who took part.  If you are a keen cyclist and would be interested in joining future cycle rides, please do email the Old Stoic office on oldstoic@stowe.co.uk
